Ernest "Ernie" C. Yates, 87, of Wooster, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at Wooster Community Hospital. His loving family surrounded him when he passed.Ernie was born May 20, 1932 in Lattasburg to Stewart O. T. and Alice May (Buchanan) Yates. He loved to dance, especially with his grand daughters at their weddings and enjoyed playing euchre with family and friends. Vacationing with family at his parent’s property on Drummond Island, MI during the summers with lots of fishing was something he looked forward to every year. Along with being a truck driver he enjoyed farming for many years. He was a lifetime member of Shreve Garfield Lodge No. 528.Fishing, hunting and family time, especially attending grand children’s events were some treasured times in Ernie's life. He also enjoyed bowling on a league with his wife and being a Special Olympic "Buddy" with his grand daughter, Amanda. Ernie never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone wherever he went.
