Obituary for Harry E McDaniel

Harry E. McDaniel, 93. Of Wooster passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Harry was born Aug. 27, 1926 in McHenry Kentucky to Charles and Stella (Beasley) McDaniel.

He was a graduate of Wooster High School. On Dec. 3l, 1951 he married Marjean Reynolds and she preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2011. 

He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII, stationed in the Philippines for two years as an E4 Corporal. He retired from the Railroad after 38 years of service.

Harry was a member of the Wooster American Legion, BPL Baseball Association, Ripley Church of Christ and the Parkview Church of Christ. Harry was nothing less than an extraordinary man. He instilled love, patience, direction, coaching and love for life in his family. His love for his wife Marjean and sons was unconditional.

His heart continued to overflow for his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they all returned that love wholeheartedly. His love for his family, sports and his faithful dog Champ made his life complete. Surviving are his children; Michael McDaniel of Loudonville OH, David H. (Penny L.) McDaniel of Danville, KY, and Thomas E. McDaniel of Wooster,OH. He was a phenomenal grandfather to Heather (Rob) Huebner, Brian (Kristina) McDaniel, Laura McDaniel, Amber (Gene) Kay, Kathleen (Justin) Parker and Corey McDaniel. Remarkable and loving great-grandfather to; Brooke, Emily, Kayla, Siera, Jared, Kennedy, Ella, Cayden, Case, Neia, Kali and Harper; also surviving is a sister Margaret “Peg” Persinger. 

Harry was preceded in death in addition to his wife by a brother Charles McDaniel and a sister Freda Derkovich. 

Friends and family may call Tuesday, March 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Zerrer officiating. Burial will follow in Ripley Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Perrysville VFW Post #8586 and the Loudonville American Legion # 257. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
